FamilyTree of Ottawa-Gatineau Technology Companies
FamilyTree of Ottawa-Gatineau Technology Companies is a 38″ x 26″ full-colour poster that serves as a ‘genealogy map’ tracing the origins and development of locally-created technology companies from the 1950’s all the way to the present. The poster tracks the genealogy of companies based on either a transfer of technology or people (or both) from one of several major ‘influences’. These influences (or sources of new companies) include the ‘National Research Council Canada (NRC)’, the ‘Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC)’, other ‘Government Departments’, ‘Nortel (and its predecessors)’, ‘National and Multinational Companies’, ‘Academic Institutions’, and ‘Other Influences’.
The most recent version of the poster is the 2008 Edition. Limited quantities are available; please contact Glenn McDougall at 1.613.226.8900 extension 13 for more information.
Humble Beginnings, History of Ottawa’s Technology Cluster
Humble Beginnings provides further insight into the history of the Ottawa-Gatineau technology industry. This 38″ x 26″ full-colour poster displays pictures of the commercial premises where many of the area’s technology firms were launched and a short story on their origins. For example, it shows the original premises of Computing Devices of Canada on Anglesea Square in 1948, the Doctors’ building on Leacock Way in Kanata where Mitel got started.
Humble Beginnings has generated significant nostalgic impact on viewers. Limited quantities are available; please contact Glenn McDougall at 1.613.226.8900 extension 13 for more information.
